Bookies take bets on 'match fixing' ref

Bookies in Germany are taking bets on the outcome of the trial of a referee accused of match fixing.

German referee Robert Hoyzer is in court charged with organised fraud after allegedly rigging matches for a Croatian gangster.

Prosecutors say Hoyzer helped net more than £1.3 million from betting agencies, mostly state-controlled Oddset.

Bookies Intertops, which is based in Salzburg, Austria, expects to make a mint out of the trial with odds such as 100:1 for all charges to be dropped against Hoyzer.
